Located just north of the DC line, Sumner is a small community in Bethesda with convenient access to Washington DC and Northern Virginia. Nestled close to the Potomac River, the area is close to a number of local trails and parks. Most of the homes were built in the earlier part of the twentieth century, though there are several new homes that have been built throughout the community. Sumner boasts traditions including the annual Halloween parade, and a close-knit, voluntary citizens association. While the Sumner community feel is abundant, Sumner boasts its own shopping center and restaurants, offering city convenience in a suburban setting.
